Signor Sassi

Ciao, Bella. Come un raggio di sole hai illuminato la mia vita. Ti adoro Signor Sassi. Translated it means hello beautiful like a ray of light you have brightened my life Signor Sassi. Well perhaps that may sound a little over the top, but Signor Sassi is one of those restaurants that just simply invoke the Italian in you.
With typical Italian aplomb the restaurant is filled with little nooks and crannies that whilst make it a tad on the cramped style, is nevertheless perfect for a romantic assignation. A favourite haunt of the rich and famous as depicted by the numerous photographs on the wall, a little gauche but not insincere. The place is similar to Scalini Resturant.
It has a charming atmosphere. It can be a little noisy due to the snug nature of its seating arrangements, but that really only adds to its character. The waiters are friendly and are more than willing to engage and enjoy in the fun, or fade away when two lovers are likely to share a strand of pasta, resulting in their sweet caress. Or is that a Disney cartoon?
Don’t come to an Italian restaurant if you don’t like pasta because at Signor Sassi the pasta is a revelation. So good it’s to die for. The wine list however, well let’s just say the food needs to be this good as the wine list is somewhat lacking in what you might expect from such an iconic restaurant.
Signor Sassi is one of those restaurants that if you haven’t been to then where have you been. Just round the corner from Harrods you can’t fail to be entranced by its charms. This really is the iconic Italian restaurant that delivers on just about every level. It’s a must for every gourmand and romantic cavalier alike, Signor Sassi speaks Italian chic and fine food in volumes. A place for amore vietato.
Grazie Mille! x

L’Etranger

One of the best things about living in London is the vast array of excellent restaurants. And I can honestly say that one of my greatest pleasures is experiencing these fine eateries in the company of a dear companion.
Recently I had the pleasure of being taken to L’etranger . This particular restaurant is well regarded for its excellent wine list. And when your companion is an expert in the wine business there is no finer place to be than L’Etranger.
Fused with a mix of French and Japanese cuisine, whish on first hearing may seem a little unusual, but this restaurant defies all that and fuses the two styles with the elegance of a geisha girl combined with the sophistication of French chic. The staff are attentive, very knowledgeable but never intrusive. It has a warm and welcoming air, and with its soft lighting allows for sensual and intimate, romantic meal. L’Etranger has won many awards and when you taste the food which is sublime, it is of no surprise.
L’Etranger also has one of the best wine lists in London.
To be honest there are so many good wines on offer that it would be very hard to choose which one. But fortunately for me I was with a connoisseur of fine wines able to expertly steer his way through the myriad of excellent wines on offer. We had ‘Chateau Talbot (1985)’ which tasted like nectar from the gods themselves.
It is rightly known as the restaurant for wine lovers, and indeed we were in the right place. This is one of my favourite restaurants, great food, superb wines, and a place where lovers of wine can bask happily with the choices on offer. Most of all, L’Etranger is a place where you can enjoy an intimate meal.
Thank you dear gentleman, for our splendid ”Chateau Talbot” time together!
