Swan Lake

If you read my Diary regularly you will be well aware of my love of all things dance. From salsa to jazz to the sheer exhilarating spectacle of ballet. And let’s be honest even if ballet is not your thing, you have to admit that they can’t half dance. But I love ballet and always jump at every opportunity to go. That’s why I don’t want to miss the English National Ballet’s Swan Lake at the Royal Albert Hall. It’s a limited season from 9th June to the 19th June with only 12 performances.
Swan Lake is probably the most well known of all the ballets, and is always a favourite. It certainly is one of mine. It’s a fabulous spectacle with unparalled feats of dance. And talking of feat yes it is the one whereby the ballerinas spend most of their time dancing on the tips of their toes. Great pleasure for us but excruciating pain for them. Oh well they say to really know your art you have to suffer for your art. Painful it is for them but what a magnificent spectacle it is. It’s done on a huge scale with one of the most enigmatic and stirring scores penned by Tchaikovsky. Apparently there is going to be over 60 swans on the stage, it will be simply awe inspiring.
Swan Lake is truly a magnificent spectacle. It never fails to thrill and stir the emotions and frankly it always leaves me with an unspent rapturous excitement. It’s a great and compelling drama and I absolutely love it. It never fails to get me going, the passion and the exhilaration of the show.
So fancy joining me? send me an email, and after a show like that we’ll both have the biggest smile in our face :)))

Shall We Dance
by Jet Set Ayo Sue on Jul.14, 2009, under Must Go See
And that is exactly how I shall feel after seeing the world premiere of ‘Adam Cooper’s – Shall We Dance’ at the Sadler’s Wells Theatre, a tribute to the music of Richard Rogers.
It is showing from the23rd July -30th Aug
This is the acclaimed international dance sensation Adam Cooper’s first production at The Sadlers Wells for over three years. And what better way to reintroduce yourself as he performs an ensemble of dance routines around the music entirely from Richard Rogers melodies.
This tribute to the wonderful music of Richard Rogers is entitled ‘Shall We Dance’. It is a story of one man’s epic journey from the Orient to the Wild West in search of the ever elusive true love.
Adam Cooper will combine his talent for tap, jazz and classical dance as he wows us with his sheer virtuosity.
Performed with the accompaniment of a live orchestra and for those of you old enough to remember ‘Dynasty’ the beautiful Emma Samms
will be joining Adam on stage.
This will definitely be a night to remember, some fantastic music and dance routines sublimely choreographed by one of the finest international dancers in the world. There is quite literally nothing to compare with the music of Richard Rogers whose scores include ‘The King and I’, ‘Oklahoma’ South Pacific’ and of course ‘The Sound of Music’.
As a night out this has to be one of the best! And if you are a lover of dance as I am, things don’t get much better than this.
