L’Etranger

by Jet Set Ayo Sue on Sep.28, 2009, under Eateries

One of the best things about living in London is the vast array of excellent restaurants. And I can honestly say that one of my greatest pleasures is experiencing these fine eateries in the company of a dear companion.

Recently I had the pleasure of being taken to L’etranger . This particular restaurant is well regarded for its excellent wine list. And when your companion is an expert in the wine business there is no finer place to be than L’Etranger.

clip_image001 Fused with a mix of French and Japanese cuisine, whish on first hearing may seem a little unusual, but this restaurant defies all that and fuses the two styles with the elegance of a geisha girl combined with the sophistication of French chic. The staff are attentive, very knowledgeable but never intrusive. It has a warm and welcoming air, and with its soft lighting allows for sensual and intimate, romantic meal. L’Etranger has won many awards and when you taste the food which is sublime, it is of no surprise.

L’Etranger also has one of the best wine lists in London. clip_image0043To be honest there are so many good wines on offer that it would be very hard to choose which one. But fortunately for me  I was with a connoisseur of fine wines able to expertly steer his way through the myriad of excellent wines on offer. We had ‘Chateau Talbot (1985)’ which tasted like nectar from the gods themselves.

It is rightly known as the restaurant for wine lovers, and indeed we were in the right place. This is one of my favourite restaurants, great food, superb wines, and a place where lovers of wine can bask happily with the choices on offer. Most of all, L’Etranger is a place where you can enjoy an intimate meal.

Thank you dear gentleman, for our splendid  ”Chateau Talbot” time together!

Turner At The Tate

by Jet Set Ayo Sue on Sep.23, 2009, under Must Go See

A favourite pastime of mine as many of you will be aware is to indulge in my passion for the arts. And yesterday evening 22nd September 2009, I attended a private viewing at Tate Britain exhibition    of Turner and the Masters’. There is always something rather special about a private viewing and when it is a private viewing of one Britain’s foremost artists.

The exhibition opens to the public on the 23rd and runs to the 31st January 2010.

JMW Turner turner20self20portrait is among the most considered and respected landscape artists. He was fiercely competitive and was unabashed at comparing himself against his rival John Constable as well as many of the great painters of the time, and also past masters.

Many people will be aware of Turners dramatic storm scenes slaveship1840161k1

but he was also a grand master at English Romantic landscape work, and became widely regarded as the ‘painter of light’.11 JMW Turner provides an opulent array of landscapes and wildly dramatic storms. Tate Britain has brought together some of his finest work, indeed some of it being shown for the first time together and some for the very first time in this light. It is a remarkable exhibition which will only help to fuel the enthusiasm for one of Britain’s premiere artists.

Don’t miss out, never has there been a better opportunity to compare two of Britain’s greatest artists JMW Turner or John Constable, you decide, I couldn’t. Simply breathtaking!

An Absence Of The Mind

by Jet Set Ayo Sue on Sep.21, 2009, under My Diary

am always heartened by the responses I receive. And though of late I have not been around much I know… I know… nor able to blog as frequently as I would like, this does not mean that I have been neglecting you lovelies.

Blogging should not be regarded as something that remains in perpetuity. However, I have been a little dismayed and frankly bemused by some of recent emails received. Those of what we shall call a baser email  from people whom it can only be said is why ‘abortion exists’ must remember that I will only reply when good manners and respect is used.

Worst emails & questions to be asked  read  below;…. Jeeez !!!

(1) “What’s up “hun” /”babes”/ “LOve” or”sweetie”

(2) Do not adress me personally

(3) “Tell me a bit about yourself ” ?

(3) “Are you on the pill ” ?

(4) “Can we meet now” ?

(5) “How much do you charge ” ?

(6) “I only want to meet you for drinks - you don’t charge for that do you ” ?

(7) “Can you book the hotel and I’ll pay you back ” ?

(8) “Can you send me some photos ” ?

(9) ”Have you got any sexy underwear”?

(10) “Can you wear a tight mini skirt with berry red lips and nails ” ?

(11) “Do you offer domination ” ?

(12) “Money is no object…. can you come to  the caribbean on my yacht and make love to my

   pet bonbozo chimpanzes”

Had a mind- boggling email today , all with capitals without punctuation- much as the guy spoke on the phone.  *cough cough*

That having been said I have recently been enjoying the many varied fruits of Bacchus, and enjoying the splendour that their nectar brings. I wouldn’t like to try and make a list of my favourite wines; it would be far too long. And anyway it is always an arbitrary task as peoples tastes can vary.

But for me these are three of my favourites.  Chateau Talbot 1985 1985

Chateau La Mondotte Saint- Emilion 1996 clip_image0022

A French burgundy Dom. Romane Conti 1997 clip_image0041

Of course let us not forget with every good wine a girl also likes to be pampered and made to feel special and perhaps celebrated too. A bottle, of the finest champagne, ‘Krug’ ‘Taittinger’ or perhap clip_image0061

Boerl & Kroff, very fine champagne.

The fine wines and champagnes a man chooses can reveal much in a man. A true sense of class, utmost decorum and a man of substantial calibre. It shows a girl that this is a man, a man of substance, a man of real gravitas. My kind of man!

And now I feel that it is my duty in these times of environmental concern to leave you with these two messages that I hope and trust you will take notice of
