Swan Lake
by Jet Set Ayo Sue on May.27, 2010, under Must Go See
If you read my Diary regularly you will be well aware of my love of all things dance. From salsa to jazz to the sheer exhilarating spectacle of ballet. And let’s be honest even if ballet is not your thing, you have to admit that they can’t half dance. But I love ballet and always jump at every opportunity to go. That’s why I don’t want to miss the English National Ballet’s Swan Lake at the Royal Albert Hall. It’s a limited season from 9th June to the 19th June with only 12 performances.
Swan Lake is probably the most well known of all the ballets, and is always a favourite. It certainly is one of mine. It’s a fabulous spectacle with unparalled feats of dance. And talking of feat yes it is the one whereby the ballerinas spend most of their time dancing on the tips of their toes. Great pleasure for us but excruciating pain for them. Oh well they say to really know your art you have to suffer for your art. Painful it is for them but what a magnificent spectacle it is. It’s done on a huge scale with one of the most enigmatic and stirring scores penned by Tchaikovsky. Apparently there is going to be over 60 swans on the stage, it will be simply awe inspiring.
Swan Lake is truly a magnificent spectacle. It never fails to thrill and stir the emotions and frankly it always leaves me with an unspent rapturous excitement. It’s a great and compelling drama and I absolutely love it. It never fails to get me going, the passion and the exhilaration of the show.
So fancy joining me? send me an email, and after a show like that we’ll both have the biggest smile in our face :)))

A Great Way To Spend Your Weekend
by Jet Set Ayo Sue on May.24, 2010, under My Diary
OK that didn’t really happen, but I guess we all have our sporting dreams and driving the first hole at Wentworth just happens to be one of mine. But at least I did get to enjoy what is the Europeans flagship event, soak up the atmosphere and watch some fantastic golf. Oh and suffer the inconvenience of reserved VIP parking. No clamping here! Life can be such a drag. Yeah right! And yes thankfully the weather was gloriously sunny and very hot.
But what a fabulous way to spend it and not just only as an avid enthusiast but invited into the inner sanctums. It has to be said that hospitality is probably the best word in the English language. Experiencing the splendour of the rather posh and frankly rather stylish club house is one thing bit to mix with (and remember you are talking to a golf loving girl) some of her European heroes is something exciting whilst tucking into some of the finest canapés I’ve tasted in a long time and sipping champagne along the way.
The whole event is cleverly crafted to ensure maximum benefit, the professional golfers whilst the epitome of politeness are fully focused on the day ahead. Will it be a match winning round or just another one to leave behind in the scrap book? We, as is the custom at these events chose one player to follow on his round for which I have to say we missed tea, how very un-English. Please don’t let this be an omen, but we followed Ernie Els, a favourite of mine, and I’m sorry to say Saturday was not a good day for him. I expect he was too distracted by me being there. Sorry Ernie, it is but a curse and a blessing. Eventually as with all the best golfing positions, we sat at the 18th hole in the stands where so much of the drama unfolds. It was a grandstand seat and I am grateful to my wonderful companion for it, as it really did make for good viewing.
Wentworth is a fabulous golf course and many of Europe’s finest golfers have won here. It has for some years now been the first main attraction in European golf. There is something quite extraordinary about actually being there when you see a magnificent shot to the green, or a fantastic drive down the fairway, or even when a seemingly impossible putt drops in. You really don’t and I know everyone says this get the excitement and tremendous atmosphere there is unless you are actually there.
It really is a great day out; I was just so excited to be there. Every time you see these players play it just makes you want to get out there more and play yourself. It’s the most frustrating game in the world but it also just happens to be the best. It really is one of the best ways to spend your weekend, in fact an absolutely fabulous way to spend it. What a way to get to this golf loving girls heart. We watched some incredible golf, and thankfully with the weather being so good and this golf loving appreciative girl accompanied by the perfect host, made this weekend to be one that neither of us will forget for a long time to come, what a really great way to spend a weekend.
Thank you dear gentleman, for our enjoyable “Wentwoth Championship ” time together! x
